About the Furlough Scheme

The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) was introduced by the UK government to support employers affected by COVID-19. The scheme allowed employers to claim grants to cover part of their employees' wages while they were on furlough.

The scheme ran from March 2020 to September 2021, with the government contribution rate gradually decreasing from 80% to 60% of wages.
